Porsche Centre Swindon ready for the Porsche Classic Restoracing Competition

Ollie, 24, is one of our dedicated Porsche-trained Technicians and has been with our Centre for three years. He will be taking the wheel of a 986 Boxster at the Porsche Restoracing Competition where he will be competing with other Porsche Centres across the UK at some of Britain’s most famous circuits. Currently racing in the G ZR Championship, Ollie is far from a beginner, however racing the rear-engined Boxster will be a change from the norm. With a number of wins and high placed finishes under his belt, we have high hopes for Ollie in his latest challenge.

Why the 986 Boxster?

The car was selected to mark the 20th anniversary of its first-generation Porsche, at which time, the brand reached a whole new generation of owners, and the Boxster through its updates remains a fantastic entry into Porsche ownership.

By choosing the 986 Boxster for this year's competition, together, we can celebrate a model that played a critical role in Porsche history.

The Porsche Classic Restoracing Competition – how it works

This year’s competition will see Porsche Centres race head-to-head at two iconic race tracks: Brands Hatch and Silverstone. Each Centre has been tasked with the challenge of not only restoring the Boxster, but preparing it to compete in a dedicated three round Porsche Classic Restoracing Championship run by the Porsche Club GB.

The restored cars will be judged on a wide range of criteria, including mechanical renovation, body and paintwork and, of course, their performance on the race track.

Porsche Centre Swindon’s entry

Our dedicated team of Porsche-trained Technicians have been hard at work for several months to transform a carefully sourced 986 Boxster ready to race - and what a transformation it has been! Our 986 will feature classic Coca-Cola livery, to mimic the livery used by Dick Lovett Chairman, Peter Lovett, in the late seventies.

Our Porsche Classic Manager, Stephen Brown has been instrumental in the project since joining the team as well.

Race dates confirmed

Our first race is just around the corner and Ollie has stated, “I'm both nervous and excited about the competition and cannot wait to see the Boxster ready to race”.
